The road to fame and glory is seldom straight forward. The reality in most cases is that the journey is filled with bumps and slippery sidetracks that could either break or strengthen you, a man who knows this very well is the Swedish boxer Patrick Bogere.

Patrick stood at the top of his amateur carer with an extraordinary record consisting of 250 fights with 215 victories, experience from the 2004 Olympic games in Athens and praise raining down over him as ” the next big thing” but then one of those bumps appeared on his road, a bump big enough to ruin everything for the upcoming talent.

In late September of 2006 Patrick was sentenced to an almost 4 year long prison condemnation judged against his own denial. During his time behind bars Patrick wanted to maintain his high level amount of training but there where significant restrictions at the department where he was being held and so he was only allowed to do Badminton and running for exercise, activities that did not help his boxing progress much. When released in late 2008 for good behaviour many critics believed that Patrick had not only lost years of his life but also all chance at a high level boxing career, but Patrick himself had his mind set differently.

With support from the people around him Patrick Bogere once again started to travel the road to stardom not only strengthen by the harsh setbacks but also filled with a eager to yet again step in to the ring. The moment he had been waiting for came in 2009 as he once again returned to the boxing scene and this time as an professional fighter. In his new debut Patrick faced of with and defeated Alexej Shorobokov from Russia by decision in an impressive performance that proved all pessimistic critics wrong. Since then Patrick has gathered seven more victories in eight fights and his most recent win came in an most spectacular way as he knocked out Slawomir Ziemlewicz from Poland.

Today Patrick is coached by Wally Munteanu a much experienced and respected trainer who has big plans and nothing but praise for the talented Swede.

– Patrick is without a doubt one of the biggest boxing talents in Scandinavia of all time. His Amateur record speaks for it self being a 5 time Swedish Champion, top placements in both European and World Championships and also voted as the best fighter at the Olympic trials in Warsaw 2004. Unfortunately Patrick has not had the “flow” that is necessary in today’s professional boxing scene, he has lacked a promoter and has also had setbacks outside of the boxing ring. But now when these issues are behind him he can concentrate entirely on his professional career and upcoming fights. Rumble Of The Kings is a big venue and we believe that Patrick will make a great contribution to this years fight card and the way that he has been matched up now it will certainly bee an exciting fight.

The opponent that will come to blows with Patrick at the November 26th event is the much competent two time Romanian boxing Champion and Junior World Championships bronze medallist Ionut Trandafir Ilie who has a combined amateur and pro fight record of 220 fights with 180 victories. Ionut is know for his fast and accurate hands and also for taking allot of hard fights. Lukas Koneckny 42-3 , Willy Blain 21-1, Damian Jonak 25-0, Cedric Vitu 29-1 and Sebastien Madani 29-1 is a few of his many previous adversaries in the ring and when considering Ionut’s strong performances against these though opponents it is clear that this will be a much difficult fight for Patrick.

– Yes this is a difficult match up for both fighters and that is why it is a good match up! The main reason that we wanted this fight came after Patricks huge knout out at the event in Karlstad, we all felt that it was time for him to show how good he is in front of a big and fantastic audience. Last year we promoted Frida Wallberg in the historical WBC Title fight against Olivia Gerula and we are happy that Patrick gets the opportunity to fight at Rumble Of The Kings as well. The only problem for us was to find an opponent, we wanted it to be a Swedish fighter but no one dared to take the fight so we turned international instead and we are very pleased that we managed to get Ionut to accept this challenge. Off course I hope and believe that Patrick will win and preferably by a knockout but at this level nothing is certain.

With lessons learned and supportive people around him Patrick is now definably on the right track again and even though the road to the top is long and hard he now knows where he is heading and how to get there. The old bumps in the road has been turned into gravel and if everything goes they way that Wally Munteanu has planned we will be seeing allot more of Patrick Bogere in the near future.

– Me, Patrick and his manager Jason McClory have big plans for the future and Patrick is scheduled to fight in England next year and also we hope to return to Rumble Of The Kings in 2012 on the main card with a big and well deserved title fight that Patrick will be the main attraction of.
