About three years ago Jörgen Kruth decided to lay aside his much successful Thai- Kickboxing career and instead go all in at a new line of business as an MMA fighter. He has to this date fought four fights and all of them have ended in the first round with Jörgen as the winner

This year Rumble of the Kings wanted to give the Swede a real test and initially paired Jörgen alongside with the K-1 veteran Ray Sefo in what could have been a great fight but only three weeks before the event Ray Sefo decided to withdraw due to other more financially rewarding commitments.

– I was not pleased when I heard that Sefo hade decided to withdraw from the event. I had been preparing for that match up for several months and I was looking forward to it greatly. He ( Ray Sefo ) is a fighter that I have wanted to fight for a long time and this was probably the last chance considering the fact that we are both getting older and are closing in on the final years of our careers. I asked the promoter several times to ask Sefo to change his mind but it was to no use, so yeah, his no show was a real disappointment for me.

With Ray Sefo out of the event with less then a month to go the promoters of Rumble Of The Kings where forced to find a short notice substitute fighter for Ray Sefo, a substitute that also was intended to be a difficult challenge for Kruth. Luckily after hard work and intense negotiations the crew behind Rumble of the Kings managed to find a fighter who fit the profile and the selected ring warrior was the former DEEP heavyweight Champion and Judo blackbelt Yusuke Kawaguchi of Japan. With 17 MMA fights, one MMA title and experience from several big events such as Dreams, Kawaguchi will compose the most experienced MMA adversary Jörgen Kruth ever been put up against.

– Yes he has allot of experience and he is also very heavy, initially I wanted the replacement fighter to be a light heavyweight fighter like myself, but now it doesn’t matter, I just want to fight and I am very eager to get in to the ring. Since I prepared to face of with Sefo my previous preparations has had a lot of focus on the standing aspects of a fight but I have been working on my ground game as well making some final adjustments the past ten days at Team Quest and team Reign in the United states. There is no big secret that he ( Kawaguchi ) has his advantage on the ground considering his grappling skills and superior weight but off course I have a plan to handle that. I expect the fight to be a good one and like always I aim to win and with the supportive home crowd in my back I always feel unstoppable!

It is clear that Jörgen wasn’t happy with Sefo’s change of mind but it is likewise just as clear that he is now totally set on his new challenge and he will do his outmost to prevail and prove that he can handle any task put up against him in the ring.
